Judge Natalie Chase Judge Chase was censured and resigned after agreeing that she had breached ethical standards relating to using racist language. This case illustrates a challenge to a court system of what to do with cases when decisions affecting people's lives are tainted by the judge's bigotry. Colorado's courts did little to correct those tainted decisions, some of which removed children of color from their families. In her last evaluation, the Judicial Performance Commission unanimously recommended to voters that Judge Chase be retained.
